I think I would make a large scrappy pillow for the 14 year old daughter of some friends. I am in the process of making a lap cuddle quilt for one of her cousins. We have been here in Mexico for almost 3 years and I have not seen any quilting anywhere except for the cheap polyester ones that they carry at Walmart. I am hoping to show people what quilting can be like.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to how difficult it can be to find good fabric overseas. I have been here in Australia for 5 years. It was a good two years before I discovered the local fabric stores. It helped joining the quilting/craft group at church. I hope you can find a local quilting/craft group. Perhaps, you can start one.

ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! Both my grandmother and mother taught me to sew, quilt, crochet, knit, cross-stitch...anything with a needle pulling thread. One of the first activities I remember doing with my grandmother is stringing buttons. My grandmother had a huge button collection. I spent hours stringing buttons.

I would make a small quilt for my daughter. She is 14 months old :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Happy Hearts Christmas Garland - 50 inches/4 feet. Could just take the Christmas stuff off the tree and keep it up until Valentines :)
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win, I would work on making a cell phone or camera cover. I don't sew well so I have to keep my projects super small. HA!
ReplyDeleteA cell phone or camera cover are great ideas! Personally, I like to work on smaller projects more than larger ones...for the simple fact that I finish them. It's very satisfying to finish a project. Currently, I have at least three (maybe more) large projects in the works. To keep it interesting, I also have many small projects going.
